BRENNSEEHOF: THE PERFECT LOCATION

Unadulterated Nature
It happens to us from time to time, even in Carinthia: we look out at the countryside around us and are amazed at how uniquely beautiful it is. The crystal-clear lakes and the undulations between the towering peaks and the lush green valleys; we can taste the velvety air and the feel the temperament of the people - somewhat more "southern" than elsewhere in Austria.

The fact that we do not permit motor boats on our lakes is a further sign that we appreciate what we have and want to conserve the intactness of our countryside. You can fill your drinking flask from any mountain source, and even the water in the lake, as well as the water that comes out of your shower, has been certified "drinking water pure".
  Where are we located?
How do you find this little hamlet, this secret destination for families, water rats, tennis enthusiasts and mountain bikers? We are located in southern, slightly Mediterranean Carinthia. Here in an Upper Carinthian lake valley, between Lake Millstatt and Lake Ossiach, nestled in amongst the gentle, lush green Nockberg Mountains. Here, hidden in Feld am See, located on the Feldsee lake, also known as the Brennsee lake that’s where the Brennseehof is to be found.

Individualised mix of sports
Windsurfers and sailors, alike, know that this place has grown into one of the best training centres in the entire Alpine region. And with the best will - as an all-round sporting, fun and natural experience: mountain biking region, Nockberg National Park, tennis camp, water sports, lakeside health spa.

Surfen am Brennseehof
Feld am See
EThe picturesque little village, in which the Brennseehof is located. Here you will everything that a guest or local needs - including a local grocer, hairdresser, bar, disco and sports shop and, of course, there is also a post office and bank here.
The famous doctor Bombastus Paracelsus praised the tingling bracing climate of the village. The insatiable doctor often travelled from the towering valley town of Villach to enjoy the unique countryside and capture it in fleeting sketches. Parcellus also enjoyed the unique speciality of the valley: "yellow soup". Today many gastronomic critics come from far a field to sample this culinary delight and then wax lyrically about it in their international cookbooks.
However, Feld am See has much to offer over and above this culinary highlight. The area offers hour after hour of hiking trails, cycling tracks and biking routes through swaying fields of corn, as well as through narrow gorges and dark-green pine forests.

NOCKBERG NATIONAL PARK

Excursions
Popular excursions include the Heidi Trail on the Falkert Alm, the Dwarf Park in the Gurk Valley, the deer enclosure in Feld am See, Nocki's children's programme in Bad Kleinkirchheim, art exhibitions in the Albeck Palace and the Mineral Museum on the Turrach, not forgetting events like "Wenn die Musi spielt", the massive open-air music festival in St. Oswald, the Karl-May Festival in Weitensfeld and many other international sporting events.

Discover the Nockberg/Bad Kleinkirchheim region
Right at the very heart of the Nockberg National Park with its unusual mountain formations, strange, gentle 'humps" with their idyllic alms, larch and Swiss pine forests, lies the Nockberg region with the same name. It offers many attractive "outdoor" experiences for tourists - either on foot, on a mountain bike or astride a Haflinger horse.

Hiking through Nature
The silent wonders of the Nockberg National Park can be best discovered on foot. Countless routes take you from the surrounding villages in the valleys, like St. Oswald, Kaning, Innernöring, Innerkrems and Turrach, right up to the very heart of the National Park. The 34 kilometre long Nockalmstrasse also offers many starting points for walks of different lengths and different degrees of difficulty. These take you up to the Schiestlscharte and Eisental, both lying over 2000 metres above seal level. Popular hikes, which can be hiked along by unpractised walkers, take you up to the Königstuhl and Klomnock, which can be reached in less than two hours from the Nockalmstraße.

Just as numerous as the hiking opportunities are the comfortable mountain huts, mountain cafes and restaurants in the Nockberg Mountains. The hosts and hostesses of these mountain establishments will tend to your physical well-being and serve up many culinary delights based on traditional recipes. The Carinthian Nockberg Mountains are truly a unique experience: discover the mountains, breathe in the countryside and enjoy the regional specialities!
